Fatal Crash Involving Vehicle and Motorcycle in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA (Aril 11, 2019) – A motorcyclist died Tuesday night following a collision with a vehicle on Q Street near 26th Street.
Police were called out to the area just after 7:00 p.m. where they found the motorcyclist. He was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as 54-year-old John Reed and was found lying in the street with major injuries.
He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
“The driver of the vehicle did stay on scene and there was no impairment on that driver’s part,” said Sacramento Police Officer Linda Matthew. “However, we don’t know, the motorcyclist, what his impairment level was if any.”
Officers determined the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Q Street and the car was traveling northbound on 26th Street when the collision happened.
Police say they are still looking into what factors may have caused the crash.
The police department says it’s still very early on in the investigation but they are asking anyone who saw anything or who may have video surveillance nearby to contact them.
Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
