Rider Killed in Valley Center Motorcycle Accident
VALLEY CENTER, CA (July 9, 2019) – A motorcyclist tragically perished Sunday during a collision at Valley Center and Mirar De Valle roads.
According to reports, the 4:10 p.m. incident involved a 2007 Honda motorcycle and a 2017 Nissan Altima.
California Highway Patrol Officer Kevin Smale confirmed that the 30-year-old Honda rider collided with the left-rear bumper of the Nissan. It appears the motorcycle struck the eastbound Nissan driver as the Nissan attempted a left-hand turn from Mirar De Valle Road onto Valley Center Road.
The unidentified rider was traveling south on Valley Center Road prior to the collision.
Following the accident, paramedics brought the Honda rider to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido where, despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, the 39-year-old Nissan driver and his 42-year-old female passenger and 3-year-old daughter sought treatment at Rady Children’s Hospital. Reports noted that all three suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Because details are limited, the crash remains under investigation as authorities determine where the liabilities fall.
