Car Crashes into Redwood Tree in Monte Rio Leaving 3 Injured
MONTE RIO, CA (April 26, 2019) – Three people were injured following a car accident Friday afternoon along a winding stretch of Highway 116 in Monte Rio.
Around 3:00 p.m., a silver Lexus sedan was snaking around Highway 116 heading west near Monte Cristo Avenue when it smashed into a redwood tree.
As a result, the car caught fire and was totally destroyed, its front-end completely smashed in.
The driver and two passengers were transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. Two were taken by helicopter and the third by ground ambulance.
It is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
Speed limits are set for a reason so it is best to follow them. You may need to go a bit faster to get around someone every once in a while but you should slow back down to a reasonable speed after. Staying at a high speed opens up the opportunity to lose control and get into an accident which will be even more serious due to your speeding.
