Paul Padilla and Sgt. James Anton Seriously Injured in Deadly Head-On Crash in Kern County
KERN COUNTY, CA (December 7, 2019) – Two men were killed following a head-on crash early Saturday morning in Kern County.
The crash happened around 2:00 a.m., on Highway 14, just south of Robbers Roost. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Toyota Tacoma and a KCSO patrol Chevrolet Tahoe collided head-on. As a result, two occupants in the Tacoma suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Authorities later identified the victims as Michael John Ferialdi and Fernando Ramirez. Both were 33-years-old and Burbank residents.
A third passenger, 30-year-old Paul Padilla, suffered major injuries. Paramedics transported him to Antelope Valley Hospital for further treatment.
CHP identified the deputy as Sgt. James Anton. Anton was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. However, there has been no update on his current condition.
It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs have played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.
