Michael Campbell Killed, Daniel Bazzoli Arrested after Santa Rosa Hit-and-Run
SANTA ROSA, CA (March 19, 2019) – A pedestrian died following a fatal early morning hit-and-run crash on Friday, March 15.
The 1:20 a.m. accident took place on Highway 12, west of Middle Rincon Road. The crash left 25-year-old Michael John Campbell dead on the westbound shoulder. The driver of a mid-size pickup truck that struck him fled the scene, according to Santa Rosa police.
42-year-old Daniel Joseph Bazzoli, of Santa Rosa, turned himself into the police that afternoon.
Bazzoli is a bartender at Susie’s bar in Calistoga, who was interviewed by investigators. He allowed them to inspect his 2006 Mitsubishi Raider truck, which police believed was part of the incident. The truck lost a front grill and passenger-side headlight in the crash. The truck showed damage consistent with the collision, police stated.
Authorities charged Bazzoli with felony hit-and-run and booked him into Sonoma County Jail.
