Matthew Calles Struck and Killed by Vehicle on 36th Street

 
Phoenix, AZ (November 21, 2020) – On Tuesday, 9-year-old Matthew Calles died in a pedestrian accident on 36th Street.
 
Police responded to the scene at about 5:50 pm near Thomas Road.
 
Authorities said a vehicle was southbound on 36th Street when Calles attempted to cross an area with no crosswalk.
 
The child sustained severe injuries from the accident.
 
Immediately, the Phoenix Fire Department transported Calles to the hospital in extremely critical condition.
 
Police said the vehicle driver did not sustain injuries and was not impaired at the time of the accident.
