38-Year-Old Mary Palomera Apprehended in Fatal DUI Crash on 10th Avenue
Hanford, CA (March 12, 2021) – On Tuesday, police arrested 38-year-old Mary Palomera in a fatal DUI crash on 10th Avenue.
The fatal crash took place on February 19 at the intersection of Leland Way.
Palomera was traveling on a 2011 GMC Yukon north on 10th Avenue approaching Leland Way. At the same time, a 2004 Honda CR-V was traveling west on Leland Way going 10th Avenue.
When the Honda went through the intersection on a green light, the vehicle was struck by Palomera, who missed the red light.
As a result of the crash, both vehicles incurred major damage and both drivers were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
Unfortunately, the Honda driver later died from his injuries.
Moreover, officers received a search warrant for Palomera’s blood sample. They determined she had THC and methamphetamine in her system during the crash.
The officers arrested and booked Palomera into the Kings County Jail on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI of any drug causing injury. Her bail is currently $120,000.

What Can the Family do in a Fatal Accident Like This?
It is clear now more than ever that one person’s negligence can have devastating effects on other individuals. This is quite common in accidents that result in death. Therefore, it is crucial that the family of the victim becomes aware that they have the authority to file a wrongful death suit.
A wrongful death lawsuit gives the loved ones of a departed family member some semblance of justice.
“The aftermath of tragic accidents can make everything difficult for a family. The last thing most families want to deal with is piles of paperwork, questions from insurance companies or defense attorneys, and attempting to obtain police reports” says Mark Sweet, an award-winning attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
Mark adds, “Grieving and handling legal claims don’t exactly go hand in hand, and this is why hiring an experienced attorney can not only provide you with peace of mind that you have a fighter in your corner but also having someone to make sure that your rights are respected and that justice will be served.”
He explains, “Having legal representation after such a traumatic event will provide your family the space to heal while ensuring that justice is brought to your loved one.”
