Driver Hit, Killed by Pickup Truck in Martinez
MARTINEZ, CA (February 25, 2019) – A motorist was killed Thursday when she was struck by a pickup truck, following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 4 near Pacheco Boulevard.
When California Highway Patrol officers responded to the 8:26 p.m. crash, they located a blue Saturn that had struck the center divider of the eastbound lanes. In addition, the driver, a female, was located lying unresponsive in the westbound lanes; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation led authorities to believe that the woman was heading eastbound on the highway when she veered off the road and struck the center metal guardrail under unknown circumstances. She possibly exited her car and climbed over the guardrail to try and run across the westbound lanes when she was hit by the Dodge pickup truck.
The driver of the Dodge stayed at the scene and so did other witnesses who provided information to help investigators. No other information was available.
