Mark Washington Injured After Motorcycle Collides with Vehicle in Lemoore
LEMOORE, CA (September 04, 2019) — A motorcyclist suffered injuries in a collision on Lacey Boulevard at 18 ¾ Avenue Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. 33-year-old Mark Washington of Hanford was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Lacey Boulevard. At the same time, a 2006 Chevrolet was also westbound on Lacey ahead of the motorcycle. However, it was slowing and signaling to turn left onto southbound 18 ¾ Avenue.
The Harley then moved into the eastbound lane. After that, it began passing vehicles in front of it while approaching the intersection with 18 ¾ Avenue.
The officers said Washington pulled into the oncoming lane to pass the Chevy and collided with the front of the car. The force of the impact ejected the rider from the motorcycle. Both vehicles came to a rest on the right side of the roadway.
Medics transported Washington to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries. Meantime, there was no information whether 37-year-old Jose Lopez-Maldonado of Laton, who drove the Chevrolet, had any injury.
The accident remains under investigation.
