Man Dead, Driver Injured in Mariposa Two-Vehicle Collision
MARIPOSA, CA (January 31, 2019) – A man was killed Tuesday when his vehicle plowed into a compactor truck on Highway 49 near Wass Road.
The 83-year-old man was driving a 2014 Subaru Forester southbound on the highway through a left-hand curve when it approached a northbound 1999 Volvo 3-Axle Refuse Compactor Truck.
Officials say the driver in the Subaru tried crossing the double yellow lines and drove into the Volvo’s path where both cars collided. The unidentified driver was killed in the crash and the driver of the Volvo suffered moderate injuries.
Neither drugs nor alcohol appears to be factors in the 1:50 p.m. crash.
