Hilda Valencia Arrested after Fatal Wrong-Way Collision near Hambey Lane

 
PRUNEDALE, CA (May 31, 2019) – Authorities identified 43-year-old Maria Teresa Rangel, 49-year-old Blanca Estela Rangel, and 58-year-old Manuela Marta Torres as the victims killed in a DUI crash near Hambey Lane.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened shortly before 6:00 AM. A southbound Chevrolet Malibu was heading northbound on San Miguel Canyon Road, where it collided head-on with a Chevrolet HHR.
 
Maria Rangel, Blanca Rangel, and Manuela Torres, all residents of Salinas, died as a result of the impact. Emergency responders transported 19-year-old Anai Juarez Rangel, the driver of the HHR, to Natividad Medical Center with major injuries. Updates on the victim’s current condition remain undisclosed.
 
The driver of the Malibu, identified as 27-year-old Hilda Valencia Flores of Salinas, also sustained major injuries in the crash.
 
Officials booked Flores into the Monterey County Jail on felony charges of driving under the influence of drugs causing bodily injuries, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, causing great bodily injury or death to multiple victims. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
