Maria Medina Killed, Maricela Marquez and Edgar Morales Hospitalized Following Wrong-DUI Wreck on South Thompson Avenue Near Rancho Road
NIPOMO, CA (December 3, 2018) – A Santa Maria woman lost her life following a wrong-way DUI crash on South Thompson Avenue near Rancho Road Saturday night.
Around 10:30 p.m., 23-year-old Edgar Morales of Santa Maria was driving a black Honda Accord northbound in the southbound lane of South Thompson Avenue when he collided head-on with a black BMW X5 SUV.
Maria Medina, an 82-year-old passenger in the BMW, was killed while the BMW driver, 55-year-old Maricela Marquez of Santa Maria, suffered minor injuries. Morales sustained serious injuries and was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.
