Distracted Driver Cause Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Queen Street
Inglewood, CA (June 27, 2024) On Tuesday afternoon, 83-year-old Maria Lopez died after a horrific pedestrian crash on Queen Street.
According to the Inglewood Police Department, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash happened on June 18, before 3:52 p.m. on the intersection of Queen Street and Locust Street.
Reports say that a City employee was driving an eastbound vehicle on Queen Street, made a left turn and struck Lopez was the victim was walking and attempting to cross the street.
Medics rushed Lopez to Harbor-UCLA Medical Examiner, where she was declared dead at the hospital.
Authorities say that the City employee is a driver who delivers meals to senior citizens and is believed that the driver was distracted by her cellphone.
Officials are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash and have not released further information at this time.
