17-year-old Male from Arbuckle Killed, Maria Espino Injured in Arbuckle Crash

Arbuckle, CA (December 07, 2021) On Saturday, a 17-year-old male from Arbuckle dies, while 24-year-old Maria Espino of Arbuckle, sustained injuries in an ATV accident on the west of Putnam Way.

Officers responded to the crash scene at about 9:30 p.m. north of a freeway undercrossing road.

Officers said the teen was driving a 2021 Yamaha Raptor ATV at a high rate of speed in heavy fog conditions. The driver drifted off the road and swerved to avoid a power pole.

However, the driver and Espino were ejected and crashed with an almond tree in a nearby orchard. Officers said they were both not wearing their helmets during the accident.

Moreover, the rescuers took the teen to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center where he died from injuries.

On the other hand, the paramedics rushed Espino to Adventist Health/Rideout with major injuries.

Meanwhile, the officers do not know yet if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
