Margarita Reyes Killed in Accident Involving Metro Bus on Compton Avenue
Los Angeles, CA (December 10, 2020) – On Wednesday, 54-year-old Margarita Reyes of Los Angeles died in a multi-vehicle crash on Compton Avenue.
The fatal car accident happened at about 6:40 p.m. south of 81st Street, in the unincorporated Florence-Firestone area.
Reyes was riding in a vehicle involved in the accident. She died at the scene.
A Line 55 Metro bus was also involved in the crash. Nobody on the bus was injured.
Furthermore, the CHP said Reyes was riding in a 2014 Nissan traveling northbound on Compton Avenue when it crashed with a southbound 2005 Toyota driven by 23-year-old John Cardenas of Compton.
“For an undetermined reason Cardenas drove into oncoming traffic,” and the front of his vehicle struck the front of the 2014 Nissan, the CHP added.
Afterward, Cardenas’ vehicle struck the front of a 2015 Nissan that was northbound on Compton Avenue.
Then, the 2015 Nissan struck the side of the bus which was southbound on Compton Avenue.
Cardenas sustained major injuries. Police did not arrest him.
Meanwhile, the 2014 Nissan driver, 20-year-old George Ortega of Los Angeles incurred major injuries.
Similarly, the 2015 Nissan driver, 39-year-old Faustino Acosta of Los Angeles, also suffered major injuries. As well as one of his passengers.
Additionally, three other passengers in the 2015 Nissan incurred moderate injuries.
The authorities continue to investigate the Los Angeles crash.
