Marcus Burton Arrested in Highway 101 Rear-End Collision [Santa Rosa, CA]

Santa Rosa, CA (October 23, 2023) On Saturday, 18-year-old Marcus Burton of Healdsburg, was arrested after 4 people, a 17-year-old boy and a family of 3 were hurt after a rear-end collision on Highway 101.

According to CHP, the 2-vehicle collision happened around 1:30 p.m. in the area of Mendocino Avenue and Highway 101 in Santa Rosa.

Reports say that Burton was driving a Ford Mustang at high-speed on Highway 101, CHP officers attempted to do a traffic stop, but Burton did not yield and instead went over 100 mph on the northbound lanes.

Officials say that Burton’s Ford crashed into the back of a Land Rover SUV, in the area of Mendocino Avenue. The SUV had 3 occupants, that were all hurt and taken to a nearby hospital for complaints of pain.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old male passenger on the Ford was treated for minor injuries and was released to his parents.

Authorities say that the Ford had been in multiple reported chases over the past month and officials were only able to catch it that day.

CHP arrested Marcus Burton and booked into Sonoma County Jail.
