Marco Lopez Injured in Fatal Highway 78 Crash [El Centro, CA]

Marco Lopez Involved in Deadly Head-On Accident on Highway 78 Near Butters Road

 
EL CENTRO, CA (May 6, 2019) – A 31-year-old Palo Verde man died Wednesday as a result of a head-on collision with a big rig on Highway 78 near Butters Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, Marco Antonio Lopez, of Calexico, collided with a Toyota pickup truck that, for some reason, veered into his lane of traffic.
 
The 1994 Kenworth truck Lopez had been operating was traveling west on the highway when the eastbound Toyota driver crossed into his lane. Both cars crashed head-on, causing fatal injuries to the unidentified Toyota driver.
 
Lopez, 41, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
 
Authorities are left uncertain as to what caused the driver to travel into the oncoming lane of traffic. However, the accident remains under investigation.
