2 Hospitalized Following Lakeside Collision
LAKESIDE, CA (April 18, 2019) — Two drivers suffered major injuries in Tuesday’s head-on crash on Wildcat Canyon Road near Barona Road.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Jeff Christy, the incident happened around 9:35 p.m. A 32-year-old woman operating a 1997 Ford Thunderbird northbound on Wildcat Canyon Road swerved to the left for unknown reasons. Subsequently, her Ford struck a southbound 2010 Lexus sedan.
As a result of the impact, the Ford overturned before coming to rest on its roof in the northbound lane. Meanwhile, the Lexus came to a stop on its wheels in the southbound lane.
Both the woman and the 52-year-old Irvine man steering the Lexus suffered major injuries.
The man and woman were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, say authorities. However, because impairment has been ruled out as a possible factor, an ongoing investigation continues.
