Man Injured after Being Struck by Alleged DUI Driver in Seattle on Jackson Street
SEATTLE, WA (January 30, 2019) – A man riding an electric scooter was injured after he was struck by an impaired driver on Thursday, January 24..
The 32-year-old man was riding a stand-on electric scooter in the 900 block of South Jackson Street near 5 Freeway at around 7:30 p.m. A Chevy Impala, driven by a 50-year-old woman, struck him.
According to a Seattle Police blotter post, the woman left the scene of the accident at first. However, a few minutes later, the woman drove back to speak with the authorities.
Officers run sobriety tests, which she failed, and she was arrested for DUI. She also lied about her name and other information to investigators, officials stated.
Meanwhile, the man who was riding the scooter was brought to Harborview Medical Center with a head injury. He is recovering.
