1 Dead in Sacramento Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 5 and El Camino Avenue
SACRAMENTO, CA (February 8, 2021) – Monday morning, a 40-year-old man died in a pedestrian crash on Interstate 5 and El Camino Avenue.
The incident occurred just before 4:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5, south of West El Camino Avenue exit.
According to the investigators, the victim “had been running from the center divide to the right shoulder.” Then, a pickup truck in the No. 2 lane hit him.
The impact of the crash sent the Sacramento man into the No. 4 lane. Afterward, two more vehicles hit him. As a result, the authorities declared him dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, officers confirmed that the three drivers stopped and has been cooperative with the officers. Moreover, the authorities do not believe that drugs and/or alcohol played a role in the crash.
Also, the incident shut down all the lanes on southbound Interstate 5, except the left lane. Then, it reopened just before 6:45 a.m.
At this time, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is withholding the identity of the deceased due to pending family notification.
Furthermore, the cause of the crash is still being investigated. Thus, the authorities urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call the CHP’s North Sacramento area office.
