VENTURA COUNTY, CA (September 21, 2021) – Late Sunday night, a 43-year-old man died in a pedestrian crash on Highway 1 and Wood Road.
 
The incident occurred at about 11:16 p.m. on the northbound Highway 1 and Wood Road.
 
According to officers, a 31-year-old Oxnard man drove a black 2011 Honda Accord in the number one (or fast) lane of Highway 1, north of Wood Road.
 
Meanwhile, a 43-year-old man stood in the number one lane also north of Wood Road for unknown reasons.
 
As the Honda approached the area, it crashed into the pedestrian. The impact threw him into the number two lane.
 
Officers confirmed that the pedestrian succumbed to his serious injuries. His identity remains undisclosed due to pending family notification.
 
Also, the Honda driver suffered no injuries.
 
As a result of the crash, officers closed the northbound lanes of Highway 1 for around two-and-a-half hours during the investigation.
 
By 2:00 a.m., all lanes reopened. Also, the crash remains under investigation.
 
Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone who witnessed the crash to call the Ventura Area CHP office at 805-662-2640.
