Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Van near Interstate 805

SAN YSIDRO, CA (November 12, 2018) – A man was killed early Monday morning following a pedestrian crash on East San Ysidro Boulevard. The identity of the victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened shortly before 1:10 AM near Interstate 805. A pedestrian was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by a northbound 1999 Chevrolet Astro van.

The victim, described as a man in his 40s, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, the 64-year-old man driving the van remained on site and cooperated with investigators.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash and to identify possible contributing factors. No arrests have been made, and neither drugs nor alcohol is believed to have played a role in the incident.
