Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Driver in Tucson
TUCSON, AZ (February 3, 2020) — A man died Wednesday night in a pedestrian accident on Silverlake Road and Euclid Avenue.
According to a Tucson Police Department news release, officers arrived at the intersection after having learned of a serious injury collision that involved a pedestrian.
Tucson fire personnel began providing aid to the seriously injured man and transported him to Banner University Medical Center; however, despite life-saving efforts, the patient died as a result of his injuries.
In the investigation, police learned that a witness tried telling the pedestrian to steer clear from the road. The person even tried physically helping the man off the street before the man grew belligerent, shoving the witness away. Subsequently, an oncoming large delivery box truck struck the man.
Officers ruled out impairment and speed as contributing influences of the accident. The investigation remains and no citations have been issued.
