Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 1 in Pacifica Kills One and Injures Two
PACIFICA, CA (January 16, 2020) – A man died in a wrong-way crash early Thursday morning in Pacifica.
The crash happened around 3:14 a.m. on Highway 1 near Manor Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Dodge Charger was traveling north in the southbound lanes of the highway when it struck a Mercedes SUV traveling in the fast lane.
The impact caused fatal injuries to the Dodge driver. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. He was only described as 25-35 years old.
Meanwhile, paramedics took the driver of the Mercedes, a man between 40-50 years old, to San Francisco General Hospital with unspecified injuries.
A woman in the passenger seat of the Dodge, between 25-35 years old, was also taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.
Officials closed the southbound lanes of Highway 1 for unknown duration while they investigated the crash.
