VISTA, CA (September 2, 2019) – A 64-year-old Oceanside man died in a two-vehicle crash early Monday morning in Vista, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash happened around 3:35 a.m. at the intersection of eastbound Highway 76 and East Vista Way.
According to the CHP, a Nissan Sentra was turning from westbound Highway 76 onto East Vista Way when it collided with a Jeep Wrangler that was heading eastbound.
As a result, the man driving the Nissan died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of his family members.
The Jeep’s 34-year-old driver complained of pain.
CHP said the Medical Examiner’s office would determine the man’s sobriety at the time of the crash. The driver of the Jeep was not impaired.
The crash shut down eastbound lanes of Highway 76 for about two hours as CHP investigated the crash. All lanes have since reopened.
