OAKLAND, CA (November 19, 2023) – Saturday morning, a man died in a brutal hit-and-run crash on 12th Street near Interstate 980.

The incident happened just after 5:30 a.m. on 12th Street off-ramp near Interstate 980.

Reports said that a possible victim of a hit-and-run was found dead and wearing only underwear.

CHP Officer Adib Zeid added that the man appeared to have died after he was hit by a vehicle while walking on the roadway near downtown Oakland.

The man suffered major trauma and was declared dead by 6:00 a.m.

Authorities shut down the 12th Street exit around 6:15 a.m., but the roadway then reopened by 8:00 a.m.

Also, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identity of the man due to pending family notification.

Moreover, they haven’t disclosed what exactly led up to the man’s death

Meanwhile, officers have found a motorist believed to have struck the man with his vehicle without stopping.

The motorist has been cooperative with the investigators.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
