Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck in San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (March 20, 2019) – A semi-truck fatally struck a pedestrian running across the 215 Freeway near South Auto Center Drive Tuesday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, units began responding to reports of a male pedestrian running naked across the 215 North Freeway around 9:40 p.m. Callers indicated that the man ran back and forth across the northbound lanes numerous times.
Eventually, he hopped over the center divider and ran through southbound traffic before a semi-truck tractor-trailer struck him in the No. 3 lane.
The driver of the vehicle pulled over and cooperated with police investigators. Meanwhile, a coroner responded to the scene to collect the body of the deceased pedestrian.
As far as the identity of the victim, reports have yet to release the name and residence. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
