Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck, Car in Fresno
FRESNO, CA (February 14, 2020)—A man died in a pedestrian accident along Highway 99 near East Jensen Avenue Thursday morning.
The deadly crash took place around 3:30 a.m. on the northbound side of the highway.
According to California Highway Patrol officers, a semi-truck driver tried merging onto the highway when he saw the man in the road. However, in spite of attempts to avoid an imminent crash, the driver ended up hitting the pedestrian.
Shortly after, a second vehicle struck the victim.
Both drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigators. The man died as a result of the accident and his name has yet to be released.
Thus far, details pertaining to why the man had been walking along the highway remain unclear, but more investigation follows. The Highway 99 pedestrian accident is not out of the ordinary.
