1 Dead and 1 Injured in Mountain Pass Accident on Interstate 15 and Bailey Road
MOUNTAIN PASS, CA (January 20, 2022) – Tuesday morning, a 34-year-old man died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 and Bailey Road.
The incident happened at about 7:15 a.m. on northbound Interstate 15, north of Bailey Road.
When the authorities arrived, they found a damaged 2014 Toyota Camry. Also, they found out that the driver, a 34-year-old man from Fort Washington, Maryland, traveled with a 35-year-old woman passenger. The female passenger came from Capitol Heights, also in the same state.
According to reports, the driver failed to navigate a curve in the interstate. Then, he let the Toyota veer to its right and across the shoulder.
Afterward, the Toyota crashed with a rock wall which sent the vehicle spinning. Eventually, the driver was ejected since he failed to use the lap/shoulder restraint.
Responders transported the driver with major injuries to St. Rose Hospital in Las Vegas. However, he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the female passenger sustained minor injuries.
At this time, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identity of the parties involved.
Also, the authorities do not believe that alcohol and or drugs played a role in the crash.
The CHP Barstow continue to investigate the crash.
