Man Airlifted to Hospital After Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99
Bakersfield, CA (October 29, 2020) – On Thursday, a man was seriously injured in a pedestrian crash on Highway 99 between Delano and McFarland.
California Highway Patrol said a man wearing dark clothes was walking on southbound Highway 99 in the #3 lane north of Pond Road.
At the same time, a semi-truck traveling along the highway approached him from behind. The driver braked and swerved attempting to avoid the victim, but later hit him.
As a result, the man was thrown into the shoulder.
Immediately, the rescuers airlifted him to Kern Medical Center due to major injuries.
Meanwhile, CHP said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the incident.
While car accidents are far more common than pedestrian accidents, there is still reason to be wary when traveling on foot.
Furthermore, common locations for these pedestrian incidents include shopping center entrances, street corners, and intersections.
