Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Train in Oxnard
OXNARD, CA (March 22, 2019) – A train fatally struck a pedestrian Thursday morning at Gonzales Road and North Oxnard Boulevard, according to officials.
Oxnard police responded to reports of a collision around 8:50 a.m. and found a patient nearly ten feet from the train tracks.
Following the collision, the train stopped near the intersection and blocked traffic for several hours.
According to reports, authorities are investigating whether this case involved a possible suicide.
As a result of the crash, commuters faced heavy traffic congestion until 3 p.m. when crews cleared the intersection. Officials are continuing their investigation to determine the ultimate cause.
