Pedestrian Killed near McLaughlin Avenue in San Jose Crash
SAN JOSE, CA (March 29, 2019) – A homeless man died Thursday morning following a pedestrian accident on the 280 South Freeway near McLaughlin Avenue.
Authorities described the pedestrian as a naked man in his 40s. According to reports, he ran across the southbound lanes around 8:40 a.m. An oncoming box truck, described as a 2012 Isuzu, struck the man in the No. 3 lane before swerving to the left and crashing into a gray 2011 Toyota.
Subsequently, a 2015 BMW traveling behind the Isuzu also swerved to avoid striking the man yet struck the box truck instead. Neither of the involved drivers suffered any injuries.
The fatal pedestrian crash prompted authorities to shut down six southbound lanes for nearly three hours before reopening them at 11:15 a.m.
Authorities are investigating this crash further to determine the ultimate cause.
Our thoughts and sincere sympathies go out to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
