Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Driver near Loveridge Road in Pittsburg
PITTSBURG, CA (April 12, 2019) – One unidentified driver was fatally struck Wednesday evening, in a pedestrian collision on Highway 4.
According to California Highway Patrol, crews responded to the crash around 9:01 p.m. Upon arriving, authorities also learned that a white Nissan sedan in the No. 4 lane struck a pedestrian.
It appears the male driver of the Nissan was unable to avoid striking the man, says CHP. Due to the impact of the collision, he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
The Contra Costa County coroner’s office will release his identity once the next of kin has been notified.
Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
In the preliminary investigation, authorities learned that the pedestrian was walking near the center divider before he dashed across the freeway lanes, where the driver hit him.
However, because details are limited, authorities are currently investigating this case further.
