Driver Dies in Petaluma Crash on Lakeville Highway
PETALUMA, CA (November 4, 2019)—One person perished in a head-on collision with a Cal Fire SUV on Lakeville Highway near Stage Gulch Road Friday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 2:35 p.m. accident occurred south of Stage Gulch Road. As a result, commuters immediately faced heavy traffic.
Because the details are unclear, officials have been investigating the possible circumstances that drove the Jeep to collide with the Chevrolet Tahoe. So far, officials learned that the Jeep overturned and ejected its driver, and the Tahoe sustained significant damage.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found the Jeep driver over the railing that runs along the highway. Unfortunately, the victim died in the accident.
In addition, the white Chevrolet Tahoe’s airbags deployed. The driver, who remains unidentified, received treatment at a Santa Rosa Hospital for moderate injuries.
Around 3:19 p.m., authorities issued a Sig-Alert for northbound Lakeville Highway from Highway 37 to Highway 116.
