Luis Gomez Arrested for DUI After Hitting, Injuring Bicyclist in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 26, 2019) – A DUI driver struck a female bicyclist Tuesday on Baker Street near East California Avenue.
Authorities responded to the collision around 9:20 p.m. In addition, dispatchers arrived to the area in the 200 block of Baker Street. According to police, a woman rode north on Baker Street when a vehicle struck her.
Paramedics arrived shortly after. After that, police transported her to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Officers interviewed 55-year-old Luis Antonio Gomez, who they later determined had watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. After conducting a breathalyzer test, his BAC read 0.13 percent.
Police eventually arrested Gomez on drunken driving charges.
