MERCED, CA (August 25, 2022) – Saturday night, authorities arrested Luis Enrique Martinez Lorenzo after a DUI crash on Highway 99.
 
According to reports, the crash occurred at around 11:25 p.m. on Highway 99 near Childs Avenue.
 
Officers revealed that 22-year-old Luis Enrique Martinez Lorenzo of Merced drove a 2006 Honda Accord north in the No. 1 lane.
 
However, he made an unsafe lane change while attempting to enter the No. 2 lane.
 
As a result, the vehicle crashed and overturned. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old male right front passenger in the vehicle sustained major injuries. Then, responders took him to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
 
Meanwhile, a 23-year-old female passenger went to Memorial Hospital North in Modesto with a complaint of pain.
 
Also, Luis Enrique Martinez Lorenzo declined treatment at the scene. Then, responders took him to a hospital for medical clearance before being arrested on suspicion of DUI.
 
Then, officers booked the driver into Merced County Jail Sunday on suspicion of felony DUI with alcohol or drugs causing bodily injury and DUI .08 alcohol causing bodily injury.
