2 People Hospitalized in Lucerne Valley Wreck
LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (January 8, 2019) – Two people were critically hospitalized after a tow truck driver lost control and crashed off Highway 18 near Marble Canyon Road Sunday afternoon.
The crash happened around 2:18 p.m. near the Mitsubishi Cement Plant.
The California Highway Patrol said a Blue Sky Towing flatbed truck was hauling a white full-size van when for unknown reasons it left the roadway and crashed nearly 60 feet down an embankment.
First Responders arrived and extricated two people from the cab.
According to a witness, the tow truck was coming down the hill and its brakes were seen smoking.
Two helicopters were requested to transport the two critically injured patients to nearby Trauma Centers. Two juvenile patients were also injured but suffered less serious injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.
CHP officers are investigating the ultimate cause of this crash.
