SUV Slams Into Tree Killing Man in Los Gatos
LOS GATOS, CA (February 1, 2019) – A man was killed Thursday evening when he lost control of his SUV and plowed into a tree on Highway 17 near Redwood Estates Road.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Ross Lee.
CHP responded to several calls about a motorist driving erratically and using the shoulder to pass up other vehicles while hitting speeds of about 100 mph.
Soon after, authorities were dispatched to the scene to find a Toyota FJ Cruiser that veered off the road and struck a tree that severed the SUV into two. The unidentified driver was pronounced dead after being ejected from the cabin.
There were no other injuries or fatalities reported but CHP is investigating whether impairment played a role.
