Pedestrian Struck by Driver and Pronounced Dead near Newell Street in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 1, 2019) – Authorities are piecing together the details of Wednesday’s fatal pedestrian crash on Riverside Drive at Newell Street.
Around 9:30 p.m., a 44-year-old woman operating a 2012 Toyota Camry struck a 17-year-old boy at the intersection. According to news reports, the driver struck the teen on Riverside Drive as she passed southbound through the intersection on a green light. The victim landed on top of the hood before falling onto the street.
Authorities responded and found the driver and passengers at the scene. Moments later, paramedics transported the teen to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him dead.
At this time, officials are questioning the driver and passengers involved and believe alcohol and drugs were not involved.
