Rider Dies in Long Beach Motorcycle Wreck
LONG BEACH, CA (December 17, 2018) – A motorcyclist was killed Thursday night after colliding with a vehicle and being struck by at least one driver on Ocean Boulevard near Highway 47.
The 58-year-old Huntington Beach man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. According to police, the man was riding his 2002 Triumph America Eastown on Ocean Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear of a 2008 Acura, driven by a 33-year-old Long Beach woman.
The motorcyclist was then ejected onto the westbound lanes, where a dark-colored SUV and a silver pickup truck ran over him. Both vehicles fled the scene. Reports did not specify whether either driver was aware.
The driver of the Acura stayed on site and was questioned by authorities, who later determined that drugs or alcohol did not play a role.
Anyone with information regarding the crash is urged to call police at (562) 570-7355, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
