Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Driver in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (February 20, 2019) – A 63-year-old Long Beach man was killed Monday night just moments after he was hit by a motorist on Pacific Avenue at West Burnett Street.
The 8:45 p.m. crash happened when the pedestrian was crossing at the intersection and was struck by a 2003 Mercedes Benz E320.
The driver stopped at the scene and contacted 911 while a bystander helped perform CPR on the victim in the middle of the street. Soon after, the paramedics arrived and transported the victim to a hospital.
The man died shortly after arriving to the hospital.
Investigators have ruled out impairment of the 41-year-old driver as a possible factor in the incident. Anyone who can help police piece together this incident is urged to call 562-570-7110.
