Rider Perishes in Motorcycle Crash on 580 Freeway Near West Grant Line Road

 
LIVERMORE, CA (January 7, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon following a collision with an SUV on the 580 Freeway near West Grant Line Road.
 
The 1:06 p.m. crash happened when an SUV and the motorcycle collided near the West Grant Line Road off-ramp. A third vehicle then struck the motorcycle rider shortly after the first incident was reported, according to the California Highway Patrol.
 
The left and center lanes were closed for nearly two hours and were reopened by 3:13 p.m.
 
Authorities are still investigating whether the weather played a role in the crash.
