Lisa Solis Struck, Injured by Hit-and-Run Teen Driver Near Moorpark Road and East Avenida De Las Flores
THOUSAND OAKS, CA (February 11, 2019) – A school employee was critically injured Friday night during a CIF basketball game when a student deliberately ran over her at a high school near Moorpark Road and East Avenida De Las Flores.
The incident took place at Thousand Oaks High School. A male teenager who was said to be a student of the district attended a basketball game at the high school around 8:15 p.m. The teen was caught stealing packaged food items from a concession stand when the sequence of events precipitated violently.
Lisa Solis, 50, of Thousand Oaks, who witnessed this followed the teen and stood in front of the vehicle and told the teen to stop. The unidentified juvenile who was behind the wheel of the Mercedes-Benz sedan that was parked outside with four other male juveniles in the vehicle accelerated the car and mowed down the woman.
The impact knocked Solis down, where she was run over by the teen driver, who purportedly had his driver’s license for only one day.
Solis suffered life-threatening injuries, including a brain bleed, a broken collar bone and punctured lungs according to a GoFundMe page, and was rushed to Los Robles Regional Medical Center.
Investigators eventually identified the suspect in the hit-and-run and found him at his Newbury Park home. He was confirmed as a student of the district but not a student of Thousand Oaks High School. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and booked at the county’s juvenile justice center.
