Lianna Salazar and Andres Morfin Killed in Vehicle Crash on George Washington Way [Richland, WA]

Richland, WA (February 28, 2022) – On Sunday, 19-year-old Lianna Salazar of Sunnyside, 20-year-old Andres Morfin, and 19-year-old Daniel Trejo, both of Grandview, lost their lives in a vehicle crash on George Washington Way.

The fatal collision took place at about 2:45 a.m. at the intersection with Jadwin Avenue.

Detectives say the car driven by 19-year-old Jennifer Duong of Richland was racing another vehicle when it slammed into the light pole. The vehicle was split into two separate halves. The pieces of the vehicle landed several feet from one another. 

Witnesses said that the second vehicle was a white 2010-2011 four-door BMW sedan. It was last seen fueling prior to racing at a business in the 1400 block area of George Washington Way.

Unfortunately, Salazar, Morfin, and Trejo died at the crash scene.

Moreover, evidence collected at the scene suggests alcohol may have played a role in the accident.

The police booked Duog into the Benton County Jail on three counts of Vehicular Homicide. She is expected in court Monday afternoon for her preliminary appearance before a judge.
