Lena Wilson Dies After Car Crashes Into Tree on Highway 101 Near Asti Road
CLOVERDALE, CA (March 5, 2019) – A Ukiah woman lost her life and three others suffered minor to major injuries following Sunday’s solo-car collision on Highway 101 near Asti Road.
The single-vehicle accident unfolded around 8:25 a.m. On the northbound side of Highway 101, a 2011 Honda Pilot, driven by a 47-year-old Talmage man, lost control for unknown reasons. The car subsequently entered a sweeping curve on the roadway, traveled off the highway and veered down a wooden embankment before striking a tree head-on.
Lena Wilson, 54, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The driver, as well as a 12-year-old boy sitting in the back seat of the SUV, suffered major injuries. Paramedics brought both patients to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Another passenger in the rear seat – a 67-year-old woman – suffered minor injuries and required hospitalization.
Authorities are investigating the ultimate cause.
