Officers Search for Suspect Driver in Plano Fatal Collision

Plano, TX (March 15, 2023) – On Monday, Leah Daniels, 29, of McKinney, sustained fatal injuries following a US 75 hit-and-run collision.

The authorities received the crash report at about 9:30 p.m. on the southbound freeway near Legacy Drive.

According to the investigating officers, a vehicle rear-ended a vehicle that was stopped in one of the inside lanes. When the driver of the stalled vehicle, which had its hazard lights on, got out from the vehicle’s passenger side, she was hit by a big rig and was pushed into oncoming traffic.

Afterward, another vehicle also struck her while she was lying on the ground.

Responding officers declared Leah Daniels dead at the crash scene.

The big rig driver continued driving without rendering aid. Officers said the driver could face criminal charges pending the results of their investigation.

On the other hand, the driver of the second vehicle that struck the victim stopped and is not facing any charges.

The authorities said the big rig was a Peterbilt 389 with no trailer and may have damage to the front quarter panel on the left side.
