Layloni Rue Struck and Killed by Semi-Truck in Bakersfield
Bakersfield, CA (October 15, 2020) – On Sunday, 23-year-old Layloni Rue lost her life in a pedestrian accident on Highway 58.
The fatal accident took place at about 8:00 p.m. east of Cottonwood Road.
California Highway Patrol officials said Rue was hit when crossing traffic lanes.
Apparently, the Kenworth driver was unable to avoid the victim. However, an unknown number of vehicles struck Rue while she was lying in the roadway.
Upon arrival, authorities pronounced Rue dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the authorities closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 58 from Highway 99 to Mount Vernon Avenue for about four hours while they worked on the site.
The CHP investigates this fatal incident.
