Laura Siders Dead, Tina Siders and Johnathan Carrete Survives Rollover Wreck on Highway 101 Near Big Lagoon
TRINIDAD, CA (January 17, 2019) – A woman perished in a solo-vehicle rollover crash along Highway 101 near Big Lagoon Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., 26-year-old Tina Josephine Siders, of Orick, was operating a 2004 Ford Expedition in the southbound lane of the highway. For unknown reasons, she allowed the Ford to drift into the west shoulder, which was when she overcorrected and made a hard-left turn, causing the SUV to enter the northbound lanes. The vehicle then swerved to the right, left the roadway, and tumbled down an embankment before it came to a rest at the bottom near the shoreline.
A passenger in the Ford, identified as 56-year-old Laura Ann Siders of Orick, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness, described as a boater, tended to Tina and Johnathan Carrete‘s rescue. Carrete, 1, as well as Tina, was brought to Mad River Community Hospital for additional medical attention.
Alcohol is not a contributing source to the crash, say authorities, but the California Highway Patrol is investigating this matter further.
