Man Killed After Stolen Vehicle Overturns and Crashes in Lakeside

 
LAKESIDE, CA (January 28, 2019) – A 27-year-old man perished at the scene of a solo-vehicle rollover crash on Moreno Avenue near San Vicente Avenue Sunday morning.
 
California Highway Patrol was contacted around 4 a.m. by a caller who reported a traffic collision near the intersection of Moreno and San Vicente avenues.
 
When officers arrived, they found a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe that was reported stolen in September. The vehicle overturned onto its side after heading northbound on Moreno Avenue before losing control into the oncoming traffic lanes and striking a tree near the road’s edge. A 27-year-old man was found dead at the scene due to his grave injuries.
 
It was unclear whether the man, who was unrestrained and ejected at the time, was the only person in the car.
 
CHP officers do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
