Sumer Cheever of Modesto Injured in Modesto Collision
Modesto, CA (December 15, 2021) – On Tuesday, 68-year-old Kolleen Jackson of Riverbank died in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 108.
The authorities received the crash report at 9:43 a.m. at the intersection with Skittone Road east of the McHenry Avenue.
Jackson was the solo occupant of the white Ford SUV, that was involved in the collision.
Moreover, 27-year-old Sumer Cheever of Modesto was the driver of a green Chevrolet SUV.
Apparently, Brandon Garcia-Castro of Oakdale was westbound in a Honda sedan on Patterson Road. He stopped to turn left onto Skittone Road.
At the same time, Jackson was approaching from behind. Jackson veered left to avoid rear-ending the Honda while she was traveling at an unsafe speed.
Jackson’s vehicle turned to the left, however, the right front of her Ford sideswiped the left rear of the Honda.
The Ford rotated clockwise and overturned onto its left side, entering the eastbound lane.
Suddenly, the front of Cheever’s Chevrolet struck the right side of the Ford while it overturned.
Unfortunately, Jackson died in the crash.
The rescuers took Cheever to the Doctors Medical Center with major internal injuries.
Investigating officers said Cheever was with her three children when the collision happened. They are 3-year-old Joseph Aldaz, 2-year-old Vanessa Aldaz, and 6-months-old Sophia Aldaz, 6 months. The children did not sustain injuries from the collision, however, the rescuers also took them to hospitals as a precaution.
The relationship between Cheever and the children is unknown.
Furthermore, Garcia-Castro sustained minor injuries. He declined medical treatment
Officers said parties were wearing their seat belts during the collision.
The authorities are still investigating if drugs and/or alcohol was a factor in the crash.
